Tulay Pirlant was born in Manisa,Turkey.

After finishing High School in Manisa, she attended Gazi University in Ankara to become a teacher.
Upon graduation she worked in many schools all over Turkey. In 1985 she decided to move to the United States.She has been living in Chicago since then.

Her first novel "Windy City" was published in 2003, in Izmir. The stories in the novel based on her own observations of the people who came to America to seek a new and better life. The book is about their struggle, their hopes, their disappointments. Besides, the novel takes the reader into journey of a young Turkish girl's mysterious disappearance in Chicago (windy city) where she came to study.
"Windy City" Turkish name, "Ruzgarli Sehir" was published second time by Goa Basim Yayin, in 2007 in Istanbul.

In 2008, the movie "Broken Angel" based on the novel was made in Los Angeles. The film with the name
"Melegin Sirlari" was shown in Turkey. It will be shown in Europe soon.

Her second novel,"Purple Mask" goes deeper into one's womanhood and takes us to a masquerade in New Orleans. An unhappy woman takes this trip with her old boyfriend , miles away from home , to escape from herself, instead she discovers her real identity. The novel was published second time(2009),with the name, "You must be born again", (Yeniden  Dogmalisin)

Recently she is writing another novel ,"Tulip" (Lale-Anemon)
She is also contributor to some local magazines in Izmir.
She has two screenplays ,ready to make movies.
Currently she is living in Chicago and Izmir.
